Jerry Allen Parton

Revered Jerry Allen Parton, 76, born April 6, 1942, passed peacefully in his Gastonia, NC home on July 6th, 2018.

Jerry was preceded in death by his father Elmore Allen Parton, his mother Mabel Lee Storie Parton (Rikard) and his brother Steve Douglas Parton.

Jerry is survived by his wife Marjorie Jory Parton of 59 years and 5 daughters Melanie Allen Byrd and Gary her husband, Lisa Hayes and her husband Reggie, Kathy De La Ossa and her husband Victor, Shari Tate and her husband Roger, and Anne Parton.

Jerry was the grandfather (Pawpaw) to 6 grandchildren, Christopher Allen Barfield, Bryan Barfield, Dominique Dunham, Ashley Montgomery, Marguerite De La Ossa, and Isaias Luke Martinez.

Jerry was a great-grandfather to 7 great-grandchildren, Alyssah Duckworth, Braden Duckworth, Rowan Dunham, Trenton Barfield, Cailyn Barfield, Charlotte Montgomery, and Caison Allen Barfield.

Jerry grew up in Cramerton, NC and served as a Sergeant in the U. S. Army 101st Airborne Unit and then with the 24th Infantry Division during the Germany Iron Curtain era. He then completed his degree at Southeastern Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC. Jerry was a bi-vocational minister and pastored Living Clay Church in Gastonia for 30 years while also working as a truck driver for Burlington Mills and subsequently with other local textile mills.

Reverend Mike Criswell and Reverend Christopher Allen Barfield will be officiating services.
