Gean "Lewis" Homesley, 89, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2019 at White Oak Manor in Kings Mountain. He was born December 18, 1929 in Gaston County to the late Broughton and Ruth Lineberger Homesley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Frances Blackwell Homesley, sister, Barbara Homesley and brother, James "Jim" Homesley;
Lewis was first and foremost, a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. He loved the outdoors, gardening and cooking. He spent his summers planting a huge vegetable garden, sharing his harvest with family, friends and neighbors.
He worked for M. A. Rhyne & Sons Dairy in Gastonia and was the last home delivery milkman in Gaston County when he retired in 1981. He served his country honorably from 1951-1953 in the US Army, stationed in Korea.
He will be greatly missed by his family and all those who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his daughters, Debbie Hipps (Roy) of Kings Mountain, and Janet Griffin (Darrell) of Kings Mountain; a son, Mike Homesley (Becky) of Kings Mountain; sister in-law, Judy Parton Homesley; grandchildren, Caitlin Marlow (Nick) of Shelby, Tyler Mezey of Kings Mountain, Michael Homesley, Jr. (Katelyn) of Chapel Hill, Kacee Griffin of Winston-Salem; great-grandchildren, Cayleigh and Charleigh Marlow of Shelby; brothers, Steve Homesley (Cindy) of Cherryville, Sonny Homesley (Jeanne) of Bessemer City and Larry Homesley (Vickie) of Kings Mountain; sisters, Marie O'Donnell of Cherryville, Helen Lamoureux of Cherryville, Joann Minton (Ernie) of Charlotte and Shirley Wright of Lincolnton; numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at Greene Funeral Service, West Chapel, 216 Archie Whitesides Rd, Gastonia with Rev. David Frady officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Mountain Rest Cemetery, Kings Mountain, N.C.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights Dr., Shelby, NC 28150.
