Yancy Cloninger Turner, 91, of Gastonia, passed away October 28, 2018 at Alexandria Place.
Born in Danville, Virginia on July 8, 1927 to the late John and Bernice Cloninger.
In addition to her parents, Yancy was preceded in death by her brother, Donald Cloninger; sisters, Mildred Autry and Kathleen McAbee; father of her children, George A. Turner, Sr.; daughter, Sandra T. Fitzgerald; and great-granddaughters, Lauren Whiteside and Aria Turner.
She is survived by her son, George A. Turner, Jr. (Barb Leary Turner); daughters, Chris (Eddie) Welch and Diana (John Gary) Hill; grandchildren, Charles Hester, Michelle (Mark) Taylor, Carla (Travis) Whiteside, Bradley Turner, Trey (Sandy) Turner; Niki Boggs, Justin (Lisa) Hill; great-grandchildren, Joshua, Jennifer, Casey, Ame, Cody, Chaz, Cailyn, Chandler, Devon, George A. Turner IV, Kristin, Chealsea and Judah; great-great-grandchildren, Whyatt, Elijah, and Casen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 3 pm Thursday, November 1, 2018 at Greene Funeral Service – South Chapel, 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, officiated by the Rev. Gene Bates.
Receiving of friends and family will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Olney Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
