Wilma Tanner

Wilma Tanner, 93, of Gastonia, NC, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 16, 2023, at her residence.

She was born in Murphy, NC on August 29, 1929, to the late Harve & Marcinia Beavers.

Wilma married her sweetheart, Clifford Tanner on September 2, 1946, who preceded her in death on May 4, 1976.

She retired from Textiles Inc. A faithful and devoted charter member of South Gastonia Church of God her entire life.

Wilma's love for the Lord and her family was unmatched.  She was a true prayer warrior, and her house was the true North for anyone in need of prayer.

She was preceded in death by her son, Ricky Tanner; great-grandson, Brandon Costner; great-great-grandson, Harrison Grindstaff; three brothers; and two sisters.

Left to cherish her memory are her 5 children, Diane Costner, Jean Costner, Keith Tanner and wife Mary, Lori Tanner all of Gastonia, NC, and Angie Tanner of Knoxville TN; 14 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; and her three brothers, Max, Ray, and Jackie Beavers of Gaston County.

A funeral service officiated by Pastor Bobby Gilley and Pastor Adrian Franklin, will be held 2pm, Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at South Gastonia Church of God - 310 Carolina Ave, Gastonia, NC 28052.

Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Burial will be held at Armstrong Cemetery, Gastonia, NC.
