Wilma Smith

Wilma Lee Stevens Smith ,94, of Gastonia, NC, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at her residence.

She was born on November 15, 1926 in Cherokee County, NC to the late John Henry Stevens and Mamie Martha Johnson.

Wilma retired from Firestone Mill, where she worked for 34 years as a tire cord twister.

She loved to spend time with her family and her church family. Wilma enjoyed volunteering with the Shut-In Ministry.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, Jimmy Smith; daughter, Bonnie Osborne, and sisters, Willie Mae Kukler, Mary Lou Parson, and Rachel Dean.

Left to cherish her memories are son, Dale Smith (wife Tammie); daughters, Jo Ann Silvia , and Becky Hasty (husband Scott); brothers, Max, Larry and Grady Stevens; sisters, Juanita Peters, Elizabeth Richardson and Brenda Stevens; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

A funeral service for Mrs. Smith will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 with Pastor Kent Cranford officiating at Loray Baptist Church, Gastonia, NC. Prior to the service Mrs. Smith will lie in state from 1:30pm-2:00pm.

A graveside service will follow at Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Loray Baptist Church – 1128 West Franklin Blvd Gastonia, NC 28052
