Clover, SC-William "Bill" Wilson Riddle, Jr., 89, of 975 Ridge Road, passed away on April 7, 2020 peacefully at his home with his loving family by his side.
Bill was a native of Clover, SC and was born on March 26, 1931; he was the son of late William Wilson Riddle and Mary Ida Flanagan Riddle of Clover.
He was a graduate of Clover High School and continued his education in mechanics and operations. He was known as a hardworking man, serving time in the Army's Paratroopers, 82nd Airborne Division, and retired as a supervisor from Duff Norton Company, Charlotte, NC. His passion was working on the family crop farm from an early age. He absolutely loved working the beautiful crops and gardens with his John Deere tractor.
Bill and his wife, Polly, had a wonderful life together as they worked side by side raising a family, gardening and canning vegetables and most passionately working in the ministry spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ. He was a respected Bible teacher and directed the choir and sang with his daughter, Angela Holladay. Each day and night, you could find him in his chair with his Bible, studying the word. He loved to sing the old hymns and play his harmonica. He and his beloved wife, Polly, taught their children and grandchildren to live a good Christian life, attend and support their church with their talents. He taught them to put God first in their lives and to let God guide their steps. Echoing a life lived to magnify his love for his Savior, he left them with a final charge of keeping Christ first, living their lives for him, and sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the world.
He was a member of Life Church in Cramerton, NC where his daughter and son-in-law are Music Pastors. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Pauline "Polly" Riddle, step-son and wife, Roger and Betsy Hinson, step-son, Ronnie Hinson, step-grandson, Stephen Hinson, step-great-grandson, Hunter Hinson; his sisters: Mary Riddle and Miriam Franklin, both of Clover and Catherine Bailey of New Smyrna Beach, Florida.
