William "Bil" Thompson, 85, of Dallas, NC, will be remembered and celebrated following his passing on Sunday, April 20, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Born on July 29, 1939, Bil was a beloved son of the late Elbert Rickman Thompson and Ida Neal Thompson.
A lifelong member of Puett Chapel Church, Bil also served in the U.S. Army, showcasing his spirit of service. He retired after 28 dedicated years with the Pepsi Company and shared a love for old cars, but above all, it was his family that meant the world to him.
Bil is now reunited with his beloved wife whom he dearly cherished, Linda McLean Thompson; brother, Robert Thompson; and sister, Edna Leonard.
He leaves behind a loving legacy, including his sons, Richard Thompson (Twanna), Tom Thompson (Angie), and Neil "Curtis" Thompson (Erin); daughter, Barbara Thompson; brothers, Charles Thompson (Amy), and James Thompson (Juanita); sisters, Mary Leonard (Bill), Helen Thompson, Shirley Womble (Jack), and Dorothy Richard (Robert); grandchildren, Brooke Thompson, Kaytlin Thompson, Stephanie Mackey, Seanna Mackey, Hunter Holland (Courtney), Tyler Holland, and Spencer Brittain; great-grandchildren, Kiera Shook, Marshall Vest, and Mac Vest; a number of nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law, Dave Leonard, and Johnny McLean (Rosie), sisters-in-law, Sandy Plonk (Steve), Shirley Robinson (Tommy), Terry McLean, and Peggy Turner, who were the light of his life.
Family and friends will gather to honor Bil on Friday, April 25, 2025, at 2:00 PM for a service at Puett Chapel Church, located at 3009 Puetts Chapel Rd, Dallas, NC 28034, officiated by Pastor Gene Feagin and Tim Luther. Following the service, he will be laid to rest in the church cemetery. Friends are invited to visit and share memories with the family on Thursday evening, April 24, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service, 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, NC 28052.
