William "Bill" Roper

William "Bill" Roper, 78, of Stanley, passed away March 9, 2016 at Caromont Regional Medical Center.

He was born May 3, 1937 in Spartanburg, SC, the son of the late Beauford and Louise Roper.

Bill was a member of First Baptist Church in Stanley.  He was a veteran of the US Air Force and was employed for over 30 years with the Wix Corporation.

Left to cherish his memories are his daughter Karen R. Henley of Mt. Holly; son Jeffrey Roper and wife Kelly of Iron Station and granddaughter Alexis K. Henley of Mt. Holly.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Doris E. Roper and brothers Dennis and Kenneth Roper.

A graveside service will be held 3:30 pm Tuesday at Hillcrest Gardens in Mt. Holly, officiated by the Rev. Kenneth Colman.

The family will receive friends 2:00 - 3:00 pm Tuesday at the Greene Funeral Service – South Chapel 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Stress Free Home Care, 717 S. Main Street, Stanley, NC 28164.
