William "Bill" Rabon
William "Bill" Rabon was born on February 28, 1951, in Rock Hill, York County, South Carolina, to the late Sidney Heyward Rabon and Margaret Jaunita Thompson. Bill went to meet the Lord on March 25, 2026, after a long struggle with lung cancer.
Bill was first and foremost a family man. He is survived by his loving wife, Judy Parrish, and his son's, Lonnie Rabon and wife, Cindy, Billy Rabon and wife, Beth, Terry Parrish and wife, Katie, Kenneth Rabon and wife, Marie, and Steven Rabon; his brother, Kenneth Rabon and wife Sue, and sisters, Brenda Waldrop and Nita McCoy;
He was especially proud of his 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, who brought him endless joy.
Bill was preceded in death by his son, Matthew Rabon, and his daughter, Annette Rabon. Their memory remained close to his heart throughout his life.
Bill proudly served his country as a Combat Engineer in the United States Army during the Vietnam era, earning the Air Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Army Commendation Medal. His service reflected his strong work ethic, loyalty, and willingness to do what needed to be done.
After his military service, Bill became known for his incredible talent as a woodworker. He had a gift for taking different types and colors of wood and turning them into beautiful, lasting pieces. His craftsmanship was something he took great pride in, and the pieces he created will continue to be enjoyed and remembered for years to come.
What many will remember most about Bill was his sense of humor. He loved to joke, tease, and make people laugh, often lightening the mood without even trying. His laughter and quick remarks were a big part of who he was, and those moments will be missed just as much as his steady presence.
While his passing leaves an empty place in the hearts of those who loved him, they take comfort in the promise of eternal life and the assurance that he now rests in the presence of the Lord.
Bill lived a life filled with hard work, creativity, love, and laughter. He will be remembered not only for what he did, but for the way he made people feel-and that is a legacy that will last.
Service will be Held at Greene Funeral Home at 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, on Saturday, March 28th, 2026 with visitation at 2:00pm and Chapel service will follow directly at 3:30pm. Son, Kenneth Rabon, officiating and grandson, J.T Parrish, Urn bearer.
