William Beattie Hamrick

Gastonia, NC William Beattie "Poppi" Hamrick, 83, passed away February 17, 2013, at Peak Resources of Gastonia. He was born May 9, 1929 in South Carolina, son of the late John Wilbur and Lillian Gowan Hamrick. William was a loving husband and family man. He touched many lives with his positive attitude and was able to "dance" through life, even when times were challenging. Mr. Hamrick retired from the Groves Mill, as a supervisor and spooler, after forty five years of service. The family would like to thank the Staff of Peak Resources in Gastonia for their continued dedication and top notch care. A funeral service will be held 2 pm on Wednesday at Greene Funeral Service, South Chapel, 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, officiated by Rev. Raymond Hamrick Jr. The family will receive friends 1-2 pm prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home and other times at his home. Entombment will be at Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia. He is survived by: his loving wife of sixty three years, Clara Mae Hamrick; children, Rebecca Ann Goudelock and her husband, Steve of Dallas, Jane Hamrick Martin and her husband, Jim of Gastonia; four grandchildren, James William Goudelock and his wife, Wendy of Dallas, Greg Martin and his wife, Amy of McKinney, TX, Scott Martin of Los Angeles, CA, Jennifer Martin Conrad and her husband, Peter of Gastonia; seven great grandchildren, Lexi, Collin, Matthew, Katie, Shannon, Hannah and Colby. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by: his brother, Raymond Wilbur Hamrick. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Alzheimer's Association of Western North Carolina, 3800 Shamrock Dr., Charlotte, NC 28215-3220.
