William Donald Flowers, Sr.

William Donald Flowers, Sr., 82, passed away Tuesday June 9, 2015 at the Brian Center. He was born March 8, 1933 in Kings Mountain, He was the 5th child of the late Thomas Flowers and Stella Beatty Flowers. Mr. Flowers attended Kings Mountain public schools, where he played on the football team in high school and was president of his senior class. He served his country in the US Army and was honorably discharged in 1956. He had a career with Southern Bell for 31 years retiring in 1987 as a manager in business sales. His favorite thing was playing golf with his friends at the Cherryville Country Club. He never met a stranger and he loved reliving his days with his two friends Ray Goforth and Charles Guyton whom he grew up with. In addition to his parents, Mr. Flowers was preceded in death by two brothers. He is survived by his long-time companion, Barbara Painter, sister, Clare Ross of Kings Mountain, three children, Don Jr., Laura and Tom Flowers; five grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends of Mr. Flowers are invited to attend his memorial service Saturday June 20, 2015 at 12 noon at the Cherryville Country Club -200 Club Drive, Cherryville, NC 28021.
