William Elrod

William "Ken" Elrod, 80, of Gastonia, went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 17, 2016 at Caromont Regional Medical Center.

Ken was born July 7, 1935 in Habersham County, Ga., son of the late Lester and Thelma Elrod.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren, and dogs.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Elrod, brother, Randall Elrod, and sister, Linda Elrod.

Left to cherish his memories are his children, Greg Elrod and wife Wendy of Bowling Green, SC, Shelly Wray and husband Billy of Lawndale, William B. Elrod and wife Susan of Chilhowie, Va., Jonathan Elrod and wife Sarah of Gastonia; grandchildren, Brandy, Alex, Kelli, Hunter, Kayla, Ben, Jordon, and Addison; great-grandchildren, Dylan, Hailey, Micah, Gracie, and Hayston.

A funeral service, officiated by Rev. Ken Faulkenbury, will be held 3:00 pm Sunday, June 19, at Lakeview Baptist Church, 143 Church St., McAdenville.

The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be private.
