William "Bill" Calvin Stiles Sr.

William "Bill" Calvin Stiles Sr., 89, of Bessemer City, passed away on April 28, 2014 at the Robin Johnson Hospice House, Dallas. He was born August 16, 1924 in Jackson County, NC, son of the late Roy Ester Stiles and Maggie Morris Stiles Clontz. Mr. Stiles was a US Navy veteran and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Bessemer City. He was a nature lover, who enjoyed fishing, gardening and bird watching. The family will receive friends 6:00 - 7:00 pm on Thursday at Greene Funeral Service, West Chapel, 216 Archie Whitesides Rd., Gastonia. Entombment will be private Mr. Stiles is survived by: his loving wife of 41 years, Linda Lackey Stiles: sons and daughters in-law, William "Buddy" Stiles Jr. and Anita, Calvin Grant Stiles and Angie; daughters and son in-law, Linda Stiles Jones, Lisa Starnes and Brian; sisters, Minnie Stiles Bolden, Martha Stiles Sorrells; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by: five sisters. Memorials may be sent to First United Methodist Church, 110 W. Alabama Ave. Bessemer City, NC 28016 or Gaston Hospice P.O.
