William Reginald Britton

William "Reggie" Reginald Britton, 85, of Gastonia.  He passed away on Monday, September 4, 2017 at Caromont Regional Medical Center, Gastonia.

He was born July 29, 1932 in Gaston County, son of the late Marshall Ernest Britton and Nancy Alma Mayes Britton.

A member of South Marietta Street Baptist Church for 75 years.  He was a veteran of the US Army and served in the Korean War.  He loved his family and church family.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife Frances G. Britton of over 61 years; daughters Karen Self and her husband Pastor Tommy; Kim Lee and husband David; brothers Kelly, Dennis and Robert Britton; sisters Nancy Smith, Martha Mayhew, Louise Hope, Dottie Driver; grandchildren Greg Self and wife Margaret, Brad Self, Jeramy Brackett and wife Kelsey, Jenna Johnson and husband Zac, Jessica Brackett; great-grandchild Arya Brackett.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his daughter Kathleen Britton; brothers David and John Britton; sister Alice Kirby.

A funeral service, officiated by Pastor Tommy Self will be held 12 noon on Friday, September 8, 2017 at South Marietta Street Baptist Church, 911 South Marietta Street, Gastonia.  Visitation will be 10:30 – 11:45 p.m. at the church.

William's final resting place will be Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia.
