William Barfield

William Henry "Buddy" Barfield, 70, of Gastonia, passed away Saturday, October 27, 2012 at Gaston Memorial Hospital. A Gaston County native, he was born November 28, 1941, son of the late Henry and Gladys Barfield. He was a machinist for over 25 years and was an avid handyman who enjoyed helping those with a need around him. Mr. Barfield is survived by his wife of over 51 years, Ruth Armstrong Barfield; son, Mike Barfield of York, SC; sisters, Ann Spencer of Gastonia, and Diann Wagoner of Deep Gap, NC; four granddaughters; and four great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 pm Monday at Greene Funeral Service, South Chapel, 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia. A funeral service will be held 2 pm Tuesday at Beech Avenue Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor Jeff Cook. Interment will be at Gaston Memorial Park.
