Whitney J. Calhoun, was born to Donald and Andrea Calhoun in November of 1988 and grew up in Gastonia, North Carolina. Whitney passed away on August 17, 2022, at the age of 33, surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest. After graduating from Hunter Huss High school in 2007, Whitney chased her dreams of helping others and became a registered nurse after receiving her degree from Gaston College in 2012.
In 2017, Whitney got to experience the greatest love she's ever known when she welcomed her beautiful daughter Finleigh into the world. They shared a special bond and absolutely adored one another. They spoke a love language of their own and would burst into laughter when their eyes met.
Whitney had a smile that would light up an entire room and a laugh that was contagious. Whitney loved music, good food and her people. She always found the best jams and couldn't wait to share them with her friends. She inspired everyone around her to be the best versions of themselves and left lasting impacts on everyone she encountered. Her love for her family was immeasurable.
Whitney is preceded in death by her father Donald Calhoun, paternal grandparents B.D. and Lela Calhoun, her maternal grandparents Everett and Jackie Hibberts, her uncles Everett Hibberts, Jr. and Joshua Hibberts and her aunt Robin Hibberts.
Whitney is survived by her precious daughter Finleigh Thomas, her mother Andrea Calhoun, her brother Jordan Calhoun (Lindsey), her nephew Parker Calhoun, her uncle Keith Calhoun (Jackie), her aunts Summer Mull (Michael), and Stephanie Scroggs. She's also survived by multiple cousins; two of which she shared very special relationships with, Fallon Mauney and Caleb Scroggs.
Whitney will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends, but we take great comfort in knowing that we will see her again.
A celebration of life service is scheduled for August 26, 2022, at Revolution Church, 1015 W. Franklin Blvd., Gastonia, N.C. We will receive friends at 6:30 pm and the service will begin at 7:00 pm.
