Wayburn Guffie Gilbert

Wayburn Guffie Gilbert, 88, of Gastonia, passed away September 10, 2017 at her residence.

She was born May 11, 1929, a native of Gaston County, the daughter of the late Jessie Earl Guffie and Rushie Bell Burchfield Poole.

Left to cherish her memories are her children, Linda Threadgill, Dennis Teague, Charlene Simmonds, Denise Miller, Sandra McCarthy; 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; 20 great-great -grandchildren; 4 great-great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Doug and Terry Poole; sisters, Frankie, Barbara and Clair Poole.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Gilbert and son, Scott Gilbert.

A funeral service, officiated by Pastors Darrell Alexander and Joan Griggs, will be held 11 a.m. Friday, September 15, 2017 at Trinity Church of the Living God, 119 Kristie Lane, Kings Mountain.

The family will receive friends 6 – 8 pm Thursday at the church.

Burial will be in Gaston Memorial Park.
