Warney "W.C." Thomas

Gastonia, NC Warney "W.C." Thomas, 72, Passed away April 9, 2013, at CaroMont Regional Med. Ctr., Gastonia. He was born August 6, 1940 in Habersham County, GA, son of the late Jonah and Hazel Mulkey Thomas. Mr. Thomas was a member of Independent Baptist Tebernacle, Dallas. He was retired from Globe Mfg. after 35 years of service. He received, three times, the Ryder Truck Rental "Million Mile Club" Certificate of Achievement Award. W.C. enjoyed outdoor activities, hunting, fishing and boating. A celebration of life service will be held 2 pm on Friday at Independent Baptist Tabernacle, Dallas, officiated by Rev. Ralph Carver and Rev. D. R. Shortridge. The family will receive friends 6-9 pm on Thursday at Greene Funeral Service, South Chapel, 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia and other times at the home of Loretta and Ed Bailey, 1242 Freedom Mill Rd., Gastonia. The interment will be at the church cemetery. He is survived by: his loving wife of 52 years, Elizabeth Kaye Thomas; daughters and sons in-law, Loretta T. and Ed Bailey of Gastonia, Kimberly T. and Don Cline of Kings Mountain; brothers, Lester Thomas and his fiancee` Ann of Georgia, Robert Thomas of Georgia, Garvice and his wife, Joan of Georgia; sisters, Ora Freeman of Georgia, Juanita Moose and her husband, Edward of Georgia, Ida Loggins and her husband, Grady of Georgia; grandchildren, Jessica D. Bailey, Trey Bailey and his wife, Alexis, Megan Robinson and her husband, Dujuan; great grandchildren, Alyssa Robinson, Ava Grace Bailey; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by: brothers, J.B. and Neil Thomas; sisters, Olean Bates, Minnie Jean Robinson; brother in-law, Crawford Freeman; sister in-law, Carol Thomas.
