Ward William "Bud" Williams

Ward William "Bud" Williams, 85, passed away on August 23, 2024 at home surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of Brenda Williams for 48 years.

Born on May 17, 1939, on a cotton farm in Waxhaw, NC to the late Horace and Sena Williams. He was one of twenty-two children. His mother Sena, sadly passed on his thirteenth birthday, and shortly after he was on his own. At the age of seventeen he joined the Army, where he was a part of the 101st Airborne division, simply because he could make fifty dollars more per month. He proudly told everyone that the first airplane he ever went up in, he jumped out of. Most of Bud's career was spent as an electrical lineman and truck driver.

Bud was a member of Grace Baptist Church, Gastonia. If you met him in passing, he would tell you how blessed he was because of the Lord. A natural athlete he picked up his first set of golf clubs when he was in his mid-fifties; and never looked back. His crowning glory was winning the Cherryville Country Club Championship in 2001 at the age of sixty-two. As Waffle House "royalty" in Dallas, he made it his second home.

In addition to his wife, Bud is survived by his children, Cindy Campbell, Lisa Williams, Randy Williams, Janna Jones, Dawny Williams, Elisa Matheney, and Traci Horne; he was the proud popaw to 14 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. He had a special love for "un's" and "weasel".

A funeral service to celebrate Bud's life will be held 2:00 pm on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at Grace Baptist Church, Gastonia. Entombment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Belmont, NC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace Baptist Church Children's Ministry or the Trump 2024 campaign. Because he truly believed in "Making America Great Again"!
