Walter Dean Waters Sr.

Walter Dean Waters Sr., 81, of Kings Mountain, passed away  August 11, 2021, at Caromont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia.

He was born September 8, 1939, in Cherokee County, SC, son of the late William Claude Waters and Lela White Waters.

Walter was a member of Springwood Free Will Baptist Church.

He retired from American Efird after 36 years of service.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, August 14, 2021, at Baptist Tabernacle, 2128 Dallas Cherryville Highway, Dallas, officiated by Pastor Jeff Silvers, Rev. Mike Waters, Pastor Michael Spargo, Pastor Brian Spargo.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Walter is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Betty  Huffstetler Waters; sons, Dinky Teague (Sissy), Dean Waters Jr. (Crystal), Rev. Mike Waters (Jody), Robert Waters (Amy), Duane Tompkins (Nichole), Jason Tompkins (Sarah); daughters, Sherry Hayes, Yaulanda  Hill (Mike);  brother, Bob Waters; eighteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Walter was preceded in death by brothers, Edwin Waters, Charles Wheat; sons-in-law,  Steve Hayes, Steve Waldroup.

Arrangements are with the West Chapel of Greene Funeral Service, Gastonia.
