Walter Dean Costner, Sr.

Walter Dean Costner, Sr., of Dallas, NC, passed away Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at the Robin Johnson House, Dallas.

He was born April 3, 1948, in Gaston Co, NC, son of the late Samuel Brady Costner and Nina Frady Costner.

Walter was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was kind, very giving and believed the best of everyone. He enjoyed sports, loved going to the mountains, and going yard selling. He had an "old", good sense of humor.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Darlene Costner, of 48 years; brothers, Pete, Albert, and Robert Costner; and sister, Patricia Costner.

Walter is survived by his son, Walter "Dean" Costner, Jr. (Dominique); daughter, Allison Burrell (Blair); brother, Bill Costner (Judy); sister, Margaret Smith; grandchildren, Sarah Costner, Lily Duvall (Logan), and Kiersten Burrell; and special friend, Louise Carringer, and her family.

Family will receive friends 6-8pm on Friday, October 1, 2021, at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service – 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, NC 28052.

A funeral service, officiated by Rev. Sam Barnette, will be held 11am on Saturday, October 2, 2021, at the funeral home.

Burial will follow the service at Olney Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Gastonia, NC.
