Walter Craig Auten

Walter Craig Auten, 91, of Gastonia passed away March 9, 2013 at Gaston Memorial Hospital, Gastonia. He was born February 2, 1922 in Gaston County, son of the late Luther C. and Kathryn Hart Auten. A celebration of life will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday at Faith United Methodist Church in Gastonia, officiated by Rev. Kim Higgins. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Gaston Memorial Park. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He served in the US Navy in the South Pacific during WWII and a faithful member of Faith United Methodist Church. Mr. Auten is survived by: his loving wife of 67 years, Thelma Reynolds Auten; son, Don Auten and spouse Mary of Gastonia; brother, Carl Auten and spouse Sue of Gastonia; grandchild, John Auten and spouse Candace of Gastonia; great grandchild, Gabriella Auten; and many nephews and nieces. In addition to his parents, his is preceded in death by: 1 brother and 3 sisters. Memorials may be made to Faith United Methodist Church Building Fund, 1511 East Ozark Avenue Gastonia, NC 28054.
