GASTONIA — Wallace Toncray Guthrie Jr., 57, died Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Caromont Regional Medical Center.
Wally was the son of the late Wallace and Ellyn Caldwell Guthrie.
A former employee of Reliable Carpet Cleaning, he later started his own floor care company, but he was proudest of the time spent as a volunteer with Gaston County and South Point Rescue Squads.  He had also been a member of the New Hope Volunteer Fire Department.  A memorial service will be conducted by Pastor Jeff Hicks on Sunday, July 30 at 3 p.m. at Sunset Forest Baptist Church, where Wally was a member.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church.
