Wallace "Gene" Clemins

Wallace "Gene" Clemins, 67, of Gastonia, passed away June 22, 2012 at Gaston Memorial Hospital. He was born October 4, 1944 in McDowell County, WV, son of the late Beaty Eugene Clemins and Helen Fletcher Cleary. Mr. Clemins was a Private First Class in the US Army, where he served in Vietnam. A memorial service will be held 5:00 pm Wednesday at Greene Funeral Service, South Chapel, 1503 S. York Rd. Gastonia, NC 28052, officiated by Pastor Dwayne Burks. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service. He is survived: by his step-daughter, Gina Long Parker and husband Billy, Betsy Rowland and husband David; brothers, Henry Cleary of Wadsworth, OH, Clifford Cleary of TX; sister, Sally Cleary Dillow of Dade City, FL; step- grandchildren, Jennifer Long, Melanie Long Hailey, Brian Long, Melisa Long Baker, Katie Parker, Ashley Creighton; step- great grandchildren, Hannah, Jacob, Katelyn, Brice, Kenleigh, Chloe, Reagan, Evan, Natalie,; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by: his wife, Brenda Hurst Clemins, step-father Clifford Cleary Sr., step-son Kenny Long, siblings Rebecca Cleary Wade, Jimmy, Walter, George Cleary, and Connie Sue Cleary. A special thanks to the staff at Fresenius South Gaston Dialasis Center. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society, 1901 Brunswick Ave., Suite 100, Charlotte, NC 28207 and the National Kidney Center, 20081 Whistling Straits Place Ashburn, VA 20147.
