Violet Wood

Violet Messer Wood, 76, of Kings Mountain, passed away Saturday, July 9, 2022, at Atrium Health in Kings Mountain.

A Gaston County native, she was born April 17, 1946, daughter of the late Jesse and Ella Messer.

She was a member of Harvest Baptist Church in Kings Mountain.

In addition to her parents, Violet was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Charles "Melvin" Wood; sisters, Delores Ann Whitesides and Mary Jeanette McFee; brothers, Billy Odell Messer, Bobby Blair Messer, Harry Eugene Messer; brother-in-law, Rev. Pete Strickland; sister-in-law, Jean Strickland and step sister-in-law, Jean Russell.

Left to cherish her memories are her stepson Shawn (Julie); grandson, Nicholas (Ansley); sisters, Ginger McSwain, Ella Faye Mayberry, Terry Denise Myers, Debra Blanton, Diane Messer, and Peggy Payne; brothers, Tommy Messer, Joe Messer, and James Messer; special nieces, TJ McSwain and Brooke Moody; numerous other nieces and nephews.

A memorial service, officiated by Pastor Gary Teague II, will be held 2:00pm on Sunday, July 17, 2022, at Harvest Baptist Church in Kings Mountain.
