It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Violet Mae Fox, born on April 15, 1939, in Newport, Tennessee. Violet, a cherished mother and beloved grandmother, departed this life peacefully on October 7, 2026.
Violet was a strong, independent woman who embraced the role of homemaker with grace and dedication. Her nurturing spirit endeared her to all who knew her. An unwavering supporter of her family, she always put their needs first, creating a warm and loving environment in which her loved ones could thrive. Violet was known for her fierce dedication and her ability to stand her ground; she did not put up with nonsense, a testament to her strength of character. Her kindness knew no bounds, and she would openly give the shirt off her back to help those in need.
Violet's love extended beyond her immediate family; she cherished her grandchildren deeply, pouring her affection into her cooking and sharing the joy of simple pleasures like completing word searches and crossword puzzles. These activities brought her great joy and were often shared with those she loved most.
Violet is survived by her son, John Fox (Kody Koster), and her daughter, Elaine Caldwell (Scott); grandchildren, Jeffery Fox (Brittanie), Kaile Caldwell (Anna), Germe Caldwell, Kyle Caldwell, and Journey Underwood; great grandchildren, Cashton Fox, Kensley Ward, Payton Ward, Kaiden Underwood, Addison Whitworth, and Travin Whitworth; great great grandchildren, Paisley Reap, Presleigh Wallace, and Iris Morgan; sisters, Katie Waynick, Angela McIntosh, and Addie Burgess. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who knew her.
Violet was preceded in death by her husband, John Fox Sr; parents, Dewey and Nan Burgess; granddaughter, Holli Caldwell; brother, Jack Burgess; sister, Rose Crisp.
A graveside service will be held in her honor at Gaston Memorial Park, located at Singing Tower, on Monday, October 12, 2026, at 11:00 am. Family and friends are invited to come and celebrate the life of this extraordinary woman, reflecting on the countless memories and moments of love she leaves behind.
Rest in peace, dear Violet. Your strength, kindness, and love will forever be remembered.
