Vernon "Elvis" Jennings, Jr., 85, passed away October 31, 2017 at his residence.
He was born June 6, 1932, in Ferndale, Florida, the son of the late Vernon Jennings Sr. and Eula Walker Jennings.
Elvis was a member of North Belmont Church of God, where he was on the Pastor's Council and Finance Committee. He was a United States Army Veteran. He was employed for over 25 years with American & Efird Textiles Trucking Division. He was a 50-year resident of Mt. Holly and he loved to play the Steel guitar and was a member of the Pedal Steel Guitar Association.
Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 65 years, Melissa Lowery Jennings; son, Randy Jennings and wife Jodi of Mt. Holly; daughters, Row Jennings Kalmanir, Gina Jennings Whitlow and husband, Jim all of Mt. Holly; four brothers and two sisters; grandchildren, Jennifer Whitlow Threatt, Jaime Kalmanir Tinker, Staci Whitlow Guzaski, Megan Kalmanir Workman, Kyrsten Gable, Jordan and Riley Jennings and 8 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 12 Noon – 2 p.m. November 4, 2017 at Belmont Four Square Church, 8 Elizabeth Street, Belmont.
The service, officiated by Pastor Carl Overton and the Reverend Fred Jennings and Reverend Thomas Brooks, will follow the visitation at the church.
Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.

Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
