Vernon "Chief" Bowker, 73, of Kings Mountain, passed away on February 10, 2015 at The Robin Johnson Hospice House, Dallas. He was born November 27, 1941 in Dewey County, South Dakota, son of the late Lawrence Bowker and Florence Grazier Bowker. "Chief" was a member of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe in South Dakota the old Cheyenne Agency. He was employed with AMP Inc. and the city of Gastonia. Mr. Bowker served in the US Army. A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at Greene Funeral Service, West Chapel, 216 Archie Whitesides Rd. Gastonia, officiated by Pastors Jeff Nichols and Mike Rote. The family will receive friends 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Westview Gardens, Bessemer City, with military honors. Left to cherish his wonderful and loving memories are, his loving wife, Olivia Maldonado Bowker; son, Jason Bowker; daughter, Anita Davis; brother, Robert Bowker; sister, YaVonne Nichols; granddaughter, McKenzie Bowker; special cousins, Donna Clausen, Gloria Two Crow; special nephews, Rolland Collins, Tony Philbeck; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by grandson, Austin Davis. Arrangements are with the West Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
