Vernon "Pudgie" Arthur Moore

Vernon "Pudgie" Arthur Moore, 79, of Bessemer City, NC, passed away Thursday, March 21, 2024, at Caromont Region Medical Center.

Pudgie was born October 5, 1944, in Gaston County, and was the son of the late Floyd and Carol Metcalf Caldwell.  He loved his family dearly and enjoyed fishing in his spare time.  After thirty years of service, he retired from American Efird.  Pudgie served his country in the United States Navy aboard the USS Kittiwake and was a member of United Veterans of America Post 1.  He was also a member of the American Legion Post 243 in Bessemer City.

Left to cherish his memory, are his wife of fifty-eight years, Sandy Henderson Moore; son, Eric Moore (Amanda); daughter, Wendy Cody (Kevin); sisters, Cindy Readling (Danny), Molly Lamberth and Sherry Seagraves (Dennis); grandchildren, Caleb Cody (Megan), Hannah Cody Scoggins (Matthew), Gabby and Candice Moore, Aiden Buckles; great grandson, Brooks Cody.

A funeral to celebrate Pudgie's life will be held 1:00 pm, Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at Lowell Church of God, 804 W 1st St, Lowell, with Pastor Joe Heffner, officiating.  Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park.  Pallbearers are Eric Moore, Caleb Cody, Matthew Scoggins, Aiden Buckles, Jason Wilson, Phillip Heffner, Tracy Dye and Chris Thompson.  The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 pm on Monday at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service 1503 S. York Rd. Gastonia.
