Verna Shaw

Verna S. Shaw, 82, of Gastonia, passed away on December 13, 2020 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia.

She was born November 28, 1938 in Gaston County, NC to the late Guy Samuel Southard and Hattie Woodard Southard.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Wanda Rayfield; son, David Shaw; brothers, Jack, Jerry, and David Southard; and sister, Guynell Rayfield.

Verna is survived by her loving husband of over 55 years, John Shaw; daughter, Lea Ragsdale (Mike); son, John Shaw, Jr. (Maura DeSomma); daughter, Rebecca Rudisill (Mark); sister, Joyce Gardner; grandchildren, Jason Rayfield, Randy Frye (Kimberly), Krista Shaw, Aleisa Wright (Paul), and Christopher Rudisill; and great-grandchildren, Drew Rickle, Mattie Shaw, Kelsey and Abigail Wright, Reagan, Lucas, and Colton Frye, and Alexis Hudson.

The deceased will lie in state at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service on Thursday, December 17, 2020 between the hours of 9:00 am and 11:30 am. The family will not be present.

The funeral service, officiated by Pastor Ronnie Dale, will be at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service on Thursday, December 17, 2020 at 2:00 pm. Entombment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park.
