Verlena "Sis" Wall Carter

Verlena "Sis" Wall Carter 1927 - 2014 Verlena "Sis" Wall Carter, 86, of Clover, passed away Sunday, January 19, 2014 at her residence. A Gaston County native, she was born February 14, 1927 daughter of the late Harvey Bowman I and Annie Ruff Bowman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Wall Sr.; son, Wayne Wall; and brother, Everett "Peter" Bowman and son-in-law, Ronnie McPherson. Verlena is survived by her children, Glenda McDonald and husband Edward Sr. of Clover, Barbara McPherson of Cherokee Falls, SC, Fred Wall and wife Ethel of Kings Mountain, Arthur Wall and wife Cassie of Gastonia, and Michael Wall of Lake Wylie, SC; brother, Harvey Bowman II of Gastonia; sister, Thelma Ballard of Bessemer City; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Greene Funeral Service, South Chapel, 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia. A funeral service, officiated by Pastor James Terry will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Hollywood Cemetery, Gastonia.
