Verla Coy

Verla Coy, age 81, of Stanley, North Carolina, went to be with her Heavenly Father on August 1, 2026, surrounded by all her beautiful girls. Born on November 6, 1944, in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, Verla was a beloved mother, sister, and friend.

She lived life in her own unique way, always finding joy in the simple things. Verla had a passion for thrift store shopping, where she loved to hunt for hidden treasures. Sewing was another creative outlet for her, allowing her to craft beautiful pieces that showcased her talents. Her love for plants and her two fur babies, Cali and Pumkin, filled her home with life and warmth, reflecting her nurturing spirit.

Verla is survived by her children, Debra Pressley (Tim), Sandra Cothran (Bobby), Wendi Wheeler (Terry), Wayne Deason Jr. (Paige), Michele Chriscoe and Sharon Brown (Cory); grandchildren, Brandy King (Ryan), Crystal Mathis, Melissa Beach, Michael Pressley (Lori), Sarah Church (Seth) and Nicolas Pressley; 7 great grandchildren; and extended family; who will forever cherish the memories and the lessons she imparted throughout their lives.

A celebration of Verla's life will take place with a graveside service on Thursday, August 6, 2026 at 11 am at Hillcrest Cemetery, Mt Holly, NC, with speaker, Terry Wheeler.

Pallbearers will be Michael Pressley, Nicolas Pressley, Jaxon King, Ryan Juarez, Owen Lovell and Ayden Lovell.

Verla may be gone, but her love and spirit will continue to blossom in the hearts of those she touched.

Verla was preceded in death by her parents, James and Helen Gambrell; her husband, Ernie Coy; a grandson, Danny Mathis II.
