Vergil Lee Franks

Gastonia, NC Vergil Lee Franks, 79, of Gastonia, passed away Friday, November 23, 2012 at Gaston Memorial Hospital. He was born May 6, 1933 in Sylva, son of the late Charlie Louis Franks and Sally Gregory Franks. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons, Paul and Kevin Franks; brothers, Clifton, Walt, and Benny Lee Franks; sisters, Phyllis and Mareatta Franks, and Myrtle Keener. Mr. Franks was retired from FMC-Bessemer City after over 30 years of service. Vergil is survived by his loving wife of over 51 years, Mitzie Conley Franks of the home; son, Tim Franks of Gastonia; daughters, Vera Elrod of Tulsa, OK, Robin Williams of TN, Cindy Harrelson and husband, Steve of Gastonia, Tracy Lineberger and husband, Robert of Bessemer City; brothers, Paul Franks and wife, Evelyn of Surfside Beach, SC, Shirley Franks and wife, Brenda of Kings Mountain, Jerry Franks of Gastonia; sister, Hazel Johnson and husband, Henry of Gastonia; sister-in-law, Sill Franks of Sylva; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. A memorial service will be held 6:00pm Wednesday at Greene Funeral Service, South Chapel, 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
