Ann Howard Armstrong, aged 91, of Stanley, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2026. Born on November 26, 1934, in Tarboro, North Carolina, Ann led a life filled with love, creativity, and resilience. A dedicated spinner in the cotton textiles industry, she was known for her craftsmanship and her joyful spirit.
Ann was a beloved member of her family and took great joy in reading, engaging in fine crafts, and participating in bingo, amongst other activities. She cherished her time spent with family and friends, showcasing her unwavering devotion as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Henry Clay Howard and Ella Mae Baker Howard; her son Michael "Hawk" Steve Armstrong; her daughter Cindy Mae Armstrong; her brothers Henry, Richard, and Noah Howard; her sister Hazel Brown; and her grandchildren Ricky McCraw Jr. and Clayton Lane Davis.
Ann is survived by her daughter, Sue McCraw (Ricky); her sons, Rusty Armstrong (Annette) and Robbie Armstrong; as well as a cherished number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren who will carry her spirit forward.
In honor of her legacy, a memorial service will be held Sunday, July 12, 2026, at 2pm, at Greene Funeral Service South Chapel. Friends and family are invited to gather for visitation one hour prior to service to celebrate Ann's life and the impact she made on all those who knew her. The memorial service will be led by Pastor Dale Lawing, and bearing her urn will be Joshua Armstrong.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or Via Hospice in Lincolnton in her memory. (Links below)
