Velma Louise Dougan Guin

April 21, 1939 — January 25, 2021

Velma Louise Dougan Guin, 81, of Bessemer City, NC, passed away Monday, January 25, 2021 at Caromont Regional Medical Center.  She was born April 21, 1939 in Gaston County and was the daughter of the late Erskine "Carl" and Cora Dougan.

Velma was a member of Mt Beulah Baptist Church, also the Golden Age Club and former member of Trinity Baptist Church.  Velma loved her family and was a loving Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother.  She enjoyed having company over and doing for others.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Guin; grandson, Darryl Elrod; brother, Dewitt Dougan; sisters, Maxine Bowen, Lucy Roberts, Pat Travis, and Betty Cope.

Left to cherish her memories are her sons, Danny Guin and wife Mary, Mike Guin and wife Janet; grandchildren, Chris Guin and wife Brandy, Ashley Daniels and husband Steven; great grandchildren, Kinsley Guin, Beaux Guin, Chesnee Daniels, and Abram Elrod; special family members, Carlotta Anderson, Buddy Penner, Brenda Long, Dottie Walker, Helen Clayton, Ken and Susie Bowen, and Mable Young.

A private graveside service will be held at Mountain Rest Cemetery, Kings Mountain.  Ms Guin will lie in state from 4 – 6 pm on Wednesday at the West Chapel of Greene Funeral Service.
