Velma "Red" Burnett,90, of Bessemer City, went to be with her precious Lord and Savior on January 23, 2017, at her home.
She was born June 6, 1926, in Spartanburg County, SC, daughter of the late Conley and Esther Taylor.
"Red" was a long-time member of First Baptist Church in Bessemer City. She was a woman of God who shared her love of Jesus with her beloved family and everyone she encountered.
Left to cherish her memories are her loving husband of 68 years, Charles Burnett; her brother, Bobby Joe Taylor; her daughters, Ginni Long (Jody), Becky Cochran (Tim), Linda Hovis (Mark); her eight precious grandchildren, Chip Long, Jennifer Long Causby, Joshua Cochran, Matthew Cochran, Joe Cochran, Lauren Cochran Spoth, Taylor Hovis and Katie Hovis; her great-grandchildren, Canaan, Kit, Charlie, Rosemary and Colette. Her legacy of love and faith will continue on.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by sisters, Emily Israel, Shirley Taylor; and brother, Ansel Taylor.
A celebration of Mrs. Burnett's life will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, January 25, 2017, at First Baptist Church of Bessemer City, 107 E. Washington Ave. Bessemer City, officiated by Pastor Tom Ravan and Chaplain Tim Cochran.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the family life center at the church.
A private graveside service will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Spartanburg, SC.
The family would like to extend heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Michael Case and his Hospice staff, Crystal Stophel and Private Duty for Seniors for her care and compassion that was extended to their family.
