Vanessa Summey Payne

Vanessa Summey Payne, 69, of Bessemer City, passed away December 1, 2022, at her home.

She was born June 10, 1953, in Gaston County, daughter of the late John Luther Buchanan and Fannie Mae Parker Buchanan.

She was a member of Westview Baptist Church in Gastonia and was a Christian lady who loved the Lord and her family. She retired from Caromont Regional Medical Center after 30 years of service.

A funeral service will be held 3:00 pm Sunday December 4, 2022, at Westview Baptist Church, 3385 Fairview Drive Gastonia, officiated by Pastor Scott Rudisill.

The family will receive friends 2-3 pm at the church.

Vanessa is survived by her son, Billy Summey and wife Mandy; her daughter, Amy Summey; stepdaughter, Rhonda Summey Ham; brothers, Dale Buchanan and wife Patricia, Clinton Buchanan, Howard Buchanan; sister, Debbie Summey; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Vanessa was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Summey and David Payne; brother, Bruce Buchanan.
