Ulysses Turley Jr., affectionately called "Buster" by many, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2025, at the age of 72. He was born to Ulysses Turley Sr. and Ethel Robinson on March 13, 1953, in Buffalo, New York.
Buster was known for his infectious sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. Those who knew him will remember the jokes he told while dominating on the pool table. However, he was not just fun and games. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Through his strong work ethic and unwavering dedication, his landscaping business beautified lawns across the Buffalo area, leaving a lasting impression. Buster found peace in quiet hours by the water, fishing for Yellow Pike and Black Bass. He was an expert at cleaning, filleting, and frying them to perfection.
Throughout his life, Buster held memberships in several churches, including Pilgrim Baptist Church, Free Spirit Missionary Baptist Church, and Unity Baptist Church. He was an active member of the Men's Usher Board, where his humor and friendly demeanor are fondly remembered. After moving to Charlotte, North Carolina, he joined the St. Paul Baptist Church. Known for his warm smile and generous spirit, Buster forged deep connections with everyone he met.
Buster was predeceased by his parents, Ulysses and Ethel, as well as two sisters, Sarah Lee Townes and Dorothy Turley-Mazyck. His brother, William Turley, Sr., passed just days after him. He will be greatly missed by his beloved daughter, Adrienne Turley, and his sons, Ulysses III (Yezman) and Jason Ramon, who were the light of his life.
He is also survived by his loving siblings: Frederick (Martha) Turley, Deborah McGrady, and Denise (Charles) Fryer. Other family and loved ones include: Alfear, L.D., Mickey, C.A., Lil'William, Lil' Freddy, Muffy, Cookie, Nicole, Brittany, Charlie, Candace, Cameron and Joann. We regret he will not meet his first grandchild, Summer Turley, whom we anxiously await to join us in November!
Rest in peace, Buster. Your warmth, humor, and kindness will live on in all who had the privilege to know you.
