Troy Lee Smith

Troy Lee Smith, 73, of Bessemer City, passed away March 15, 2015 at Carolinas Medical Center (Main) Charlotte. He was born March 28, 1941 in High Point, the son of the late Cliff and Mary Lou Smith. He is survived by sons, Troy Lee Smith Jr. and David Todd Smith; daughter, Sonya Smith Childers; sisters, Betty Wells, Shirley Ward and Kathy Griggs; grandchildren, Tabitha Hass, Crystal Crosby, Tara Hoffman, Dillon, Jordi and Austin Smith and 8 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Florence H. Smith. A memorial service will be held 2 pm Thursday at Greene Funeral Service - South Chapel - 1503 S. York Rd., officiated by the Rev. Dennis Wells. The family will receive friends 12:30 - 1:45 pm prior to the service at the funeral home. Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
