Travis "Snip" Bryant

December 31, 1926 — July 10, 2018

Gastonia

Travis "Snip" Bryant entered his heavenly home on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at the age of 91.
He was a man of great faith and a student of the Word of God. Snip was an active member
of the Dallas Church of God and a great Christian example to his friends, family and to everyone he met.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Jeanette Bryant in 2010 after 63 years of marriage.
Snip was born on December 31, 1926 in Banks County, Georgia, a son of the late Henry Cleveland Bryant and Barbara Reems Bryant.
He was the youngest of their nine children.
He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII. He served on the USS General M.C. Meigs which was a troop transport ship until the end of the war. Snip was employed at Threads, Inc. for over 30 years but retired from Freightliner, Gastonia, and owned his own HVAC company. He lived to love and loved to live. He had daredevil blood flowing in his veins and passed those genes on to his son, Gregory Bryant and grandson Jeff Bryant.
Flying his ultralight airplane around the county was a hobby in his younger years. Once he arranged with Freightliner management for him to land the plane in the parking lot and pick up his payroll check. He received his check from the Plant Manager and with the cheers of his fellow employees he took off into the wild blue yonder. On two occasions he did tandem skydives one of which was with his son Gregory Bryant and grandson Jeff Bryant. The event was covered by the Gaston Gazette because it was a three generation jump.
He is survived by his children and their spouses, Freida Powell and Pete of High Shoals, Gregory Bryant and Twila of Gastonia, and Sherry Canterbury and Dennis of Shelby; grandchildren, Rodney Bryant and wife Lori, Steve Travis, Jeff Bryant and wife Nicole; and great grandchild Stevie Travis. In addition, he is survived by his sister Alene Bolynn of Gastonia.
The family would like to express a special thank you to his caregivers for providing exceptional care during the last two years of his life. Rodney Bryant, his grandson, supported "Pop" until the Lord called him home. Linda Hendrix, Jennifer Prine and Nicole Mitchell provided tender and loving care as he approached his eternal home. They were so kind and loving to him during this time. In addition, a special thanks to the staff of Gaston Hospice. They supported him and his family with compassionate care during the last two weeks of his earthly journey.

A service to celebrate Snip's life will be held at 6:30 pm, Sunday, July 15, 2018 at the Dallas Church of God, 311 South College Street, Dallas, NC. with Rev. Danny Shortridge and Rev. Harry Clark officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:30 – 6:15 prior to the service at the church.
Interment will be held in the mausoleum at Gaston Memorial Park on Monday, July 16, 2018 at 10:00 am.
