Tracy LeCates Petry was Born on April 03, 1967. She passed away peacefully at her home in Shelby North Carolina, surrounded by loved ones on February 11, 2022, after her courageous 2-year battle with cancer.

A celebration of Tracy's life will be held 11:00 am Friday, March 18, 2022, at Greene Funeral Service, West Chapel, 216 Archie Whitesides Road Gastonia, NC.

Tracy was born in Norwalk CT to the late George and Lois LeCates(Tucker). Tracy grew up in Ridgefield CT. Ridgefield High School was where she met the love of her life, Martin Petry. She knew from the second she saw him that he was the one, but it wasn't until many years later when they reconnected and later went on to get married. As Tracy always said, "and the rest is history."

Some of Tracy's fondest memories growing up were spent at her loving Grandma Essie's in Milford CT. Tracy enjoyed spending time in the pool and in the basement that was called "The Batcave"(She always got a kick out of that) with her cousins. Amongst her favorite things to do with her cousins was play Twister and Toss A Cross. The smile that came across her face as she told her best childhood stories was priceless. Later on, she got into ghost hunting with her late friend Mary Quirion. She had so many stories to share from that time and began to write. Tracy always found time to pursue her passion of writing. Tracy was a talented and accomplished author and founder/owner of her publishing company "My Mutt Publication".

Tracy worked at Medifleet in West Haven CT for several years and then at Comfort Keepers, before moving to NC where she spent the last several years working as a project coordinator for a local mobile home community where she met some of her dearest friends. She also enjoyed blogging about her adventures in the company, tracypetry.com.

Tracy loved dogs, especially Bodie who always brought her comfort and surrounded her with his love. Coda and Adoc( in heaven) were her pride and joy when Tracy and Marty lived in CT. Tracy's love for our Savior Jesus Christ offered a light many could not resist. She enjoyed sharing her wisdom and educating her friends and family in the faith of God.

One of Tracy's famous sayings was "Life is so much better with friends" and she had endless amounts of friends in her life who meant the world to her. Her "adopted kids" and neighbors Nathan St. Peter, Meghan Wright and her husband Steven along with the grandkids Scott, Jennifer, Kaelyn and Emma. Danielle and Mason Lyons as well as Ethan and Abby Quirion also meant the world to Tracy. Lisa Pruneda, Tracy's other neighbor and partner in crime, were inseparable as well as Lisa's husband Joe who Tracy just adored. Tracy lost touch with her family but reconnected and met her cousin Heather Nargi and her wife Lisa for the first time 11 years ago. From the first time they met, Tracy knew they would always hold a very special place in her heart. There were always stories that without fail would put a smile on Tracy's face. One of Tracy's favorites was when Lisa would text Tracy and say, "Your cousin tripped over her own feet again today!!!"  and Tracy would respond with "Yep that's my cousin! LOL"

Tracy was loved by so many and had so many important friends in her life, there are Marty and Wendy Logue, Liz Capalbo and Michelle, Susan Ferrara, Madison Leigh Lerch, Paul Stroili and endless others.

Tracy is survived by her loving husband Marty Petry, who was her EVERYTHING.  Also survived by her stepdaughter Jennifer Somero, her mother and father-in-law Don and Ellen Petry. Brother George and Evelyn LeCates. Predeceased by Grandparents Ethel and George LeCates, Aunt and Uncle Paul and Doris Savulski.
