Thomas Swanson

Thomas Marvin Swanson, 75, was called home on Tuesday, August 7, 2018, in Charlotte, NC. Tom was born in San Diego, CA on March 11, 1943, the son of Royal and Gladys Swanson. Tom served in the Marine Corps as a 1st Lt. during Vietnam from '68-'69. In 1972 Tom married Linda Rodgers of McGaheysville, VA, after which they started a family by adopting four children. Tom worked in PR for over 35 years and launched Swanson-PRI in 1995. An avid distance runner, he completed his 50th marathon in 2011. Tom is immediately survived by his sister, Coreen; four children, Erick, Aubrey, Mike, and LeAnn; and five grandchildren, plus one on the way. A celebration of life will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Myers Park Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the MPBC "Sunshine Fund" at 1900 Queens Rd, Charlotte, NC 28207 or to Vietnam Veterans of America.
