Thomas Ervin Sutton

Gastonia, NC Thomas "Tom" Ervin Sutton, 92, passed away October 23, 2012, at his home. He was born September 20,1920 in Gaston County, son of the late Prince Henry and Pearl Parks Sutton. Mr. Sutton was a member of Second Baptist Church, Crescent Lane, Gastonia, where he was a church deacon. A funeral service will be held 3 pm on Thursday at Greene Funeral Service, South Chapel, 1503 S. York Rd., officiated by Rev. Dennis Badger. The family will receive friends 2-3 pm prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Olney Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Gastonia. He is survived by: his wife of 70 years, Lois Johnston Sutton of the home: children, Carolyn Harvey and husband, Calvin, Curtis Sutton and wife, Patricia, Barry Sutton and wife, Ruby; 14 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by: sons, Earl and Ronnie Sutton; brothers, Melvin, J.B. and Norman Sutton; sisters, Kathlene Jackson, Louise Costner, Christine Ross.
