Thomas Eugene Henson Sr., 82, a resident of Morningside Assisted Living of Gastonia, passed away October 23, 2018 at the Robin Johnson House in Dallas.
He was born September 2, 1936 in Rutherford County, the son of the late Joseph Lenard Henson and Eva Frazier Henson.
Thomas was a Sgt. of the United States Marine Corps who served during the Korean War.
He is survived by his sons, Thomas E. Henson Jr. and William Kirklen Henson; daughter, Kyle Merrill; 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Hulick Henson; sister, Louise Andrews and brother, Joseph Henson.
A funeral service will be held 2:30 pm Sunday, October 28, 2018 at Unity Baptist Church, 482 N. Myrtle School Rd., Gastonia, officiated by Pastor Roger Mathis.
Receiving of friends and family will be held 6 – 8 pm Saturday at Greene Funeral Service – South Chapel 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia.
Burial will be private in Sunset Cemetery in Shelby.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gaston Hospice, PO Box 3984, Gastonia, NC 28054.
