Thomas Marion "Doc" Steedly, of Bessemer City , passed away on August 3, 2014. He was the son of the late Buck Steedly and Mable Crowe Clanton. Mr. Steedly proudly served in the United States Armed Forces and was a lifetime member of the American Legion, Post 243 of Bessemer City and VFW Post 9337 of Gastonia. He was a Shriner and very active in community affairs. He was also a die-hard Tar Heel Fan and supporter of the Washington Redskins. A celebration of life will be held 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at Greene Funeral Service, West Chapel, 216 Archie Whitesides Rd., Gastonia officiated by Pastor Dick Whitener. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion, Post 243. Mr. Steedly is survived by: companion and caregiver, Laura Steedly; daughter, Tanya Steedly Purcell; brother, Billy Clanton; sister, Patsy Lail; beloved dog, Koa. In lieu of flowers, monetary donations may be sent to Gaston County Shrine Club, Children's Hospital, 505 Pickney Rd., Dallas, NC 28034 or Gaston Hospice, P.O.
