Thomas "Wayne" Capps, 79, of Belmont, passed away December 20, 2017 at the Robin Johnson House.
He was born February 5, 1938 in Cleveland County, the son of the late Garwood and Lottie Mae Mooney Capps.
Thomas was a retired veteran of the United States Air Force. He loved NASCAR and was a huge Panther fan. He loved country music and searching his ancestry. He adored his family, friends, fur-babies and family get-togethers.
He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Pat Capps; son Brent Capps and wife Margarita; daughter, Donna Rene Finley; step-daughter, Angelica Poteat; sisters, Dot Hardin and Shirley Drewery; brother-in-law, H.L. Gibson and sister-in-law, Sherry Gibson; grandchildren, Alex Blake Finley, Aaron Finley, Jordan Lucas Finley and Millie Caroline Capps; nieces and nephews Balinda Campbell, Stan and Steve Capps, Sheila Mitchem, Cheyanne and Misty Hinson, Lisa Blanton, Lori Austin, Hunter Capps and other numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Bob Capps; step-daughter, Tracey Poteat and fur-babies, Rose and Daisy.
A memorial service will be held 2 pm Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Greene Funeral Service – South Chapel 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia.
Visitation will be at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
