Terry Roof Starkey

Terry Roof Starkey, 58 years young, formerly of Kings Mountain, brought to this world on January 6, 1962 unexpectedly gained her wings on Saturday January 2, 2021.

Terry, dedicated wife, and loving mother spent her days saying 'I love you' in a way only a mother can do.  There are many ways to say 'I love you' that we often miss…tediously cleaning the house, doing the dishes and laundry, providing meals to the people and animals of the household. Terry didn't have to speak or use audible words to express her love and compassion – this was evident in her eyes, with her actions and as we know and should remember… love is a language in and of itself, love is universal.

Although Terry lived in what we can only imagine a world deficit of sound, there was nothing 'silent' about her legacy she left behind.  It is a reminder to us all how we communicate, express ourselves – really connecting with each other in ways that words are not able to describe.  Her compassion for life wasn't limited to people, as we know she had a special place in her heart for her canine companions.  Treating each one with love and kindness, and so many we can't name them all!  What a joyous reunion it must be with Baby, Pudgy and Lulu (only to name a few).

Terry is survived by her husband and life partner since July 26, 2003, Curtis Starkey; children, Stephanie and Justin McKinnon, Elizabeth and Ryan Link, Alyssia and Dustin Parks, and Jerrit Starkey; grandson Dalton Parks; mother, Alene and stepdad Jeff Kerr; father, David Roof; and her beloved dogs Flower and Rose.

The family will have a private celebration of Terry's life on her day of birth Wednesday January 6th, 2021. There will be an additional celebration of life later in the year following the lifting of COVID restrictions.
