Tanya G. Williams

Tanya G. Williams passed away at home after losing her battle with cancer. She was born on March 17, 1958, in Long Island, N.Y., daughter of Freddie Williams and Suzanne Williams. Tanya graduated from Hunter Huss in 1976 and served in the U.S. Army for four and a half years. Tanya was employed by Dr. Creed at Crossroads Animal Hospital for seventeen years. She was a Girl Scout leader for sixteen years. She is preceded in death by father Freddie Williams, sister Brenda Williams, soul mate Douglas Grala, and special friend Vernon Petty. She is survived by mother Suzanne Williams, daughter Kelly Williams and partner D.J. Rushing, brothers Scott and Gloria Williams of Gastonia, Brian and Becky Williams of Gastonia, Richard and Lana Williams of Pinknard, Ala., Dana and Jackie Williams of Belmont; sister, Athena and Denny Lasswell of Dallas; grandsons, Aaron Rushing and Jessie, Dylan, Kevin and Christian Harris, four nieces, eight nephews, four great nieces, nine great nephews and special friend, Kellie Harris. She is greatly loved and will be dearly missed. Services will be held at Greene Funeral Service-South Chapel-1503 S. York Road, Gastonia on Saturday, January 4, 2013. Visitation will be at 1 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. Officiating will be Father Matthew Buettner and Deacon John Weisenhorn from St. Michael's Catholic Church. Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
