Tammy Faye Messer

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Tammy Parks Messer, who left us peacefully on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at the age of 63.

A native of Gaston County, she was born on April 9, 1962 to the late Jesse and Patsy Parks.

Tammy dedicated her career as a Benefits Case Worker with the Gaston County Department of Social Services, where she provided invaluable support to those in need. Her warm smile and compassionate heart were always a source of comfort to friends, family, and colleagues alike. She attended Covenant UMC in Gastonia. She was Grammy to four grandchildren and was great at giving Halloween parties. She enjoyed fishing, frogs and going to casinos. She loved to take people in and always had a house full. She loved Texas and had family in Texas.

Tammy is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Billy "Wayne" Messer; sons, Brandon Wayne Messer (Carmella), Josey Messer (Lacey); four beautiful grandchildren, Peyton, Paislee, Sadie, Owen Messer; brothers, Ronnie Parks (Bobbie), James "Peanut" Parks (Kathy); beloved sister, Pam Parks; numerous nieces and nephews; and her Ransom Street family.

A memorial service will be held in her honor on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 4:00 PM at her residence, 101 N. Ransom St. Gastonia, NC. Everyone is welcome to join us as we celebrate Tammy's life and the joy she brought to so many. Prior to the service, there will be a visitation on Friday, March 27, 2026, at 6:00 - 8:00 PM, at Greene Funeral Service South Chapel, 1503 S. York Rd. Gastonia, NC.
