It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Tammie Elaine Wilson, of Gastonia, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who left this world on March 29, 2025, at the age of 65. She was born on April 17, 1959, in Gaston County, North Carolina, to the late William Thomas Guffey and Gennie Lee Guffey.
Tammie was known for her fierce independence and adventurous spirit, navigating life's challenges with resilience and grace. She built lasting connections wherever she traveled, sharing stories and laughter, and always finding a way to brighten someone's day. She had been a truck driver for many years and loved traveling. Some of Tammie's favorite things to do were crocheting, sewing and going to play bingo. She was a cat lover and had many cats throughout her life.
Her love for family was unparalleled. Tammie knew the importance of kinship and often made it a point to stay close to her loved ones, providing support and guidance whenever needed. As we reflect on her life, we remember her infectious smile and her unwavering spirit that inspired everyone she met. Tammie filled the lives of those around her with kindness and warmth.
A memorial service will be held 4:00 pm Friday, April 4, 2025, at Greene Funeral Service, West Chapel, 216 Archie Whitesides Road Gastonia, officiated by Rev. Randy Richardson.
Tammie is survived by her life partner of 14 years, Johnny Dean Holcombe; sons, Shane Guffey and William Rathbone (Summer); daughter-in-law, Lavone Seals Guffey Bennett; brother, William Thomas Guffey Jr. (Wanda); twelve grandchildren.
